Learn about the latest treatments for Major Depression. Dr. Pardell will discuss genetic testing using Genesite buccal swabbing to individualized medication treatment for psychiatric illnesses. He will describe a non-drug treatment for depression, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS utilizes an MRI strength magnet to stimulate the areas of the brain that are underperforming or under functioning and normalizes brain functioning to treat depression without the side effects of medication. Dr. Pardell Lectured to the Northeast Regional Astra Zeneca CNS Representatives.

Dr. Pardell had the opportunity to educate the Northeast Region CNS Representatives of Astra Zeneca on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Bipolar Disorder.  The lecture occurred on June 3, 2014 in Tarrytown, NY and was broadcast throughout the northeast through Webex connection. It was very well received and future educational events and tutorials will be planned.

Randy I. Pardell MD DFAPA, Medical Director, proudly welcomes Kenneth W. Wilson M.D. DFAPA to Riverview Psychiatric Medicine, PC. Dr. Wilson is a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He received his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his medical degree from New York Medical College where he holds the position of Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Wilson completed his psychiatric residency training at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center where he was appointed Chief Resident and went on to complete a fellowship in Public Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center. He has lead the Emergency Services and Consultation and Liaison Services at a number of medical centers in New York City including St. Vincent’s Hospital. Prior to joining Riverview Psychiatric Medicine, PC, Dr. Wilson was the Director of the Department of Psychiatry at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, a division of Health Quest Medical Practice. Dr. Wilson has a special interest in the interaction between physical health and psychiatric illness including psychosomatic medicine. Dr. Pardell Lectures on New Treatments for Depression

Randy Ian Pardell MD DFAPA lectured to his medical colleagues this month on exciting new treatments for Depression.

On March 6, 2014 Dr. Pardell lectured at the Culinary Institute of America on the use of Deplin (l-methyl folate) as an augmentation treatment for Major Depressive Disorder.  He described the interactions between inflammation, metabolic syndrome, early life adversity and the impact on depression and overall health.  Dr. Richard Horowitz was in attendance and shared the excitement of his new book on Lyme Diease called:  Why Can’t I Get Better: Solving the Mystery of Lyme and Chronic Disease.

On March 12, and March 20, 2014, Dr. Pardell lecture to his mental health and medical colleagues in Dutchess and Westchester Counties on Brintellix, a new antidepressant medication with unique properties to treat the cognitive and energy symptoms occurring in Major Depression.

This video sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) is a poignant and moving portrayal that brings insight and hope for those afflicted with depression.

On November 20, 2013, Dr. Pardell lectured at Cosimo’s Poughkeepsie to over 40 health care providers about the latest advances in pharmacogenomic testing to individualize psychiatric medicine selection along with the latest advances in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.  Dr. Pardell lead an interactive discussion which updated his colleagues about new innovations in psychiatry.

On November 16, 2013, Dr. Pardell lectured to a community group on how to manage Holiday Stress, his current use of Genesite Genetic Testing to individualize medication selection for the treatment of psychiatric conditions and provided the latest update on Results of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy for the treatment of Major Depression at the TMS Center of the Hudson Valley.  A spirited discussion insued and after the lecture, Dr. Pardell provided a tour of the  TMS Suite and demonstrate how TMS is delivered. Dr. Pardell will regularly provide community lectures to help inform about the latest developments in the field of psychiatry.
