Randy Pardell MD DFAPA Director
Randy Ian Pardell, MD, DFAPA established TMS Center of the Hudson Valley and Riverview Psychiatric Medicine, PC with the goal of providing the highest quality psychiatric care to residents of the Hudson Valley and now Saratoga Spring, NY. Dr. Pardell emphasizes, “We address both the physiological and psychological aspects of each patient to create the optimal individualized treatment plan including medication management, psychotherapy, nutritional supplementation and now Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) the newest technology for treatment resistant depression.”
Dr. Pardell, a board-certified psychiatrist and Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and the New York University School of Medicine with honors. He completed, with distinction, the Master in Pharmacology Program sponsored by Neuroscience Education Institute. He completed a Mini-Fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation from Harvard Medical School at the Berenson-Allen Brain Stimulation Center at Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital Center in Boston. As a highly regarded lecturer, Dr. Pardell has educated fellow physicians and mental health clinicians on the latest pharmacologic and innovative treatments of psychiatric disorders. He was recognized by Castle Connolly as a Top Doctor in the Hudson Valley in the Hudson Valley Magazine in 2010 and Top Doctor in US and News and World Report in 2011. Dr. Pardell has also been featured in Cablevision’s series “Meet the Leaders” to discuss his utilization of TMS to help patients overcome treatment resistant depression.
Dr. Pardell facilitates weekly educational symposia to ensure the clinical staff has the latest updates in mental health treatment.
Terri Coonrad-Hershkowitz NP-P
Ms. Hershkowitz has been immersed in mental health nursing for over 25 years. She was employed on the inpatient mental health units at Benedictine Hospital and then St. Francis Hospital. She completed her undergraduate degree in nursing at State University of New York at New Paltz, and then received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Science from the Russell Sage College in Troy, New York.
Upon completing her nurse practitioner’s degree, Ms. Hershkowitz was employed at Kaiser Permanente until 1999 at which time she joined Dr. Pardell at Riverview. Terri has been trained and certified in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and will assist Dr. Pardell in our TMS program as an integral part of the TMS Center of the Hudson Valley.
Roya Karbakhsh MD
Dr. Roya Karbakhsh is a child, adolescent & adult psychiatrist who has worked in the Hudson Valley community since 2000. She has been working in the inpatient and outpatient setting as well as day programs in Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange counties. She has also worked in Benedictines, St Francis, and Middletown psychiatric center.
Dr. Karbakhsh is a graduate of Isfahan Medical University and later from New York Medical College’s psychiatry residency program at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in New York. She attended New York University’s Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship because of her great love for children and her dedication to addressing the childhood psychosocial stressor on the developmental stages. During her fellowship in New York University Hospital and NYU Child Study Center she taught medical students and residents.
She completed a research psychopharmacology fellowship focusing on child/adolescent psychopharmacology at Mount Sinai with Dr. Jeffery Newcorn. Her main concentrations included childhood ADHD, anxiety, depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Dr. Karbakhsh has expertise in employing various modalities including: family and couple therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness based stress reduction skills, and dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT). With her younger patients, she employs indirect play therapy, sandbox therapy, CBT and family therapy in order to enhance their recovery from anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. Her focus on coherence breathing, meditation, and relaxation techniques combined with her sympathetic, kindhearted, and caring approach to her patients allows her to reach the core of her patients’ issues and ultimately facilitate treatment and recovery.
Elizabeth Mastro NP-P
Elizabeth Mastro, NP-P, is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with expertise in the treatment of adults and adolescents. She has been licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2010. She received her Bachelor’s and Masters Degree in Nursing Science from Russell Sage College, and had spent 15 years as a pharmaceutical sales representative for a variety of companies including Sanofi-Aventis, Solvay, Novartis, Bristol Myers Squibb. She has performed research in Equine Assisted Therapy in treating depressed and anxious patients. She bring compassion and scientific rigor to her patient interactions.
Ellyn Enisman CEC, LMSW
Ellyn Enisman is a Licensed Master of Social Work and a Certified Coach. She brings to her practice, advanced training and experience in counseling and over 20 years of corporate and individual coaching experience. She has held both leadership and management positions in industry as well. Ellyn partners with clients in a collaborative process to support them through life and career transitions and develop fulfilling personal and work relationships. Through counseling, she works proactively to help clients move forward through a process of self discovery that can reduce emotional suffering and create positive change. In an additional focus of her practice Ellyn helps college students, recent grads, and experienced professionals navigate career challenges including job search strategy and acquisition and interview skill training. She is the author of the recently published book: Job Interview Skills 101, The Course You Forgot To Take, a book written specifically for college students and recent grads. Ellyn holds a Master of Social Work from Adelphi University, a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Marist College and is an adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Adelphi University. She is a member of The International Coach Federation, Society of Human Resource Management, American Society for Training and Development, The National Association of Social Workers, and is the Board President of People, Inc.
Megan Chipkin BSN, RN, Nurse Pracitioner Intern and TMS Technician
Riveriview Psychiatric Medicine, PC is excited to have Meghan join our practice. She is currently enrolled at Russell Sage College to obtain a Nurse Practioner degree. She will be performing her internship with us for this year. She will be involved in both our psychiatric and TMS programs. She is a Raike master and provides a warm and welcoming clinical style to our practice.
Joseph Kruk, TMS Technician
Joseph is a Junior at SUNY New Paltz majoring in Biochemistry and taking a premedical curriculum. He has been trained by Dr. Pardell and certified by Neuronetics to administer TMS treatments. Joseph brings his intelligence, compassion and humor to each patient interaction and he is a wonderful addition to our TMS team. Joseph will be participating in our clinical research program to help further TMS as a scientifically rigorous treatment for neuropsychiatric illnesses.
